Winter is a great time to think about where you’ve been in your travels, and what you’d like to do when the weather gets warm again. Here’s one example — Marblehead Lighthouse State Park is a great place to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Lake Erie.
I took the short video clip above in August 2022 when we visited Marblehead during the summer. It’s really relaxing just to watch the video and listen to the waves, don’t you think?
The grounds around the lighthouse are accessible for visitors of all abilities. A breezy, warm summer day is the perfect time to bring folding chairs and a picnic lunch. Then just sit back, watch the water and sailboats on Lake Erie, and listen to the waves crash on the rocky shore of Marblehead Peninsula.
Now is a good time to plan your next trip up to Marblehead. Even winter is a good time to visit there. If you’re the hearty type and dress for the weather, the state park is open all year around, although the park’s amenities are not available during the winter.
During the warmer months, the park includes lighthouse tours by reservation, a museum and gift shop. If you want to go to the top of the lighthouse, a strenuous walk up and down stairs is required. A replica lifesaving station with a museum of US Coast Guard activities is nearby. The area also offers picnic areas and restrooms.
See Marblehead Lighthouse State Park’s web page for more information.
