Hardware stores carry tools, building supplies, bulk materials and other household and building items. The best ones offer good advice, great service and an old-time atmosphere as well. Several of them, like Lehman’s, Hartville and Keim Lumber, are rivals in size with the big-box stores. And there’s some former hardware stores that have been repurposed for other uses.
