Mowery Cider Mill – Mowery Cider Mill has been family-operated since 1901 using a cider press patented in 1883. The cider mill uses the oldest commercially operated press in Ohio. They also use a family recipe of a mixture of locally grown apples. The mill and market are open from mid-August until December 31, 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily (close at 6 p.m. after time change). Mowery’s offers fresh cider (by gallon, half-gallon, quart and pint), apples, apple butter, caramel corn, caramel apples, popcorn, honey, syrups and more. The mill accepts orders to press apples at customers’ request as well, and visitors are welcome to watch the historic cider press in operation. Parks’ General Store – A country store in southern Ohio that’s like a step back in time. You can find everything from pitchforks, hardware and seeds to cereal, chocolate candy, canned foods and staple items. The store was built in 1874 by Jacob Krochett. The Parks family took ownership of the store in 1938 and Mary and Walter Parks ran the store for 50 years. After Walter’s death in 2000, Mary operated the store with the help of her children until 2007.
