Diners were originally railroad dining cars transformed into tiny restaurants offering quick service and limited but hearty menus such as meatloaf, fried chicken, pies and coffee. In this section are other interesting, unique and historic restaurants as well. There are lots of places in this section, and probably lots more that should be included.

Adornetto’s – Adornetto’s began as a family-run pizzeria in 1958 and continues to serve their traditional recipe pizza. Amish Door Restaurant – The Amish Door Restaurant opened in 1977 as a 48-seat restaurant. The restaurant is now part of a village that includes The Inn at Amish Door, Amish Door Bakery, Amish Door Theatre and Amish Door Market. Arthur Treacher’s Fish & Chips – Arthur Treacher’s, founded in 1969, once had more than 800 locations nationwide.
