Garrett’s Mill in Garrettsville no longer grinds grain, but it does house an excellent craft brewery and restaurant, Garrett’s Mill Brewing Company.

The mill was established in 1804 by Col. John Garrett of the state of Delaware, who had purchased 300 acres in the area, including water rights to the creek now known as Eagle Creek. Among the first actions of the founder of Garrettsville was the construction of an earthen dam on the creek and a sawmill and gristmill beside it. By 1840, the village had several stores, a carriage maker, a chair factory and the two mills.

Robert C. Hopkins acquired the mill in 1943, and for many years the mill was known as Hopkins Old Water Mill. The mill continued to grind grain and flour using a waterwheel up to the late 1980s, and has undergone renovations in more recent years.

The craft brewery and restaurant offers a full menu of entrees, appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches and a kids’ menu. A complete selection of house-brewed craft beers and ales is available, as well as guest beers, wines and hand-crafted cocktails.

Garrett’s Mill’s unique twin waterwheels can still be viewed in Eagle Creek. Guests can enjoy views of the Eagle Creek falls from a multi-level deck outside the mill.

The mill is located at 8148 Main Street (SR 82), Garrettsville; phone (330) 527-8080.
