Grinnell Mill is one of several mills in Ohio where you can get a good night’s rest. This mill is situated near the state’s most spectacular scenery.

The origins of the mill date back to 1811, when Andrew and Robert Moody built a mill in 1813 along the Little Miami River. The mill burned in 1818, and a replacement was built in 1821, which is the present mill building.

The Grinnell family owned the mill from 1864 to 1948. It was originally a water-powered grist mill, but damage from the 1913 flood resulted in the waterwheel being replaced by a Leffel turbine in 1914. Antioch College purchased the mill and surrounding property in 1948, incorporating both into Glen Helen Nature Preserve.

Miami Township acquired the mill in 2004 and completed restoration work in 2008. The mill now operates as a comfortable bed and breakfast inn, offering a freshly prepared continental breakfast, two guest rooms on the second floor and a suite on the first floor.

All around the mill are natural attractions including John Bryan State Park, Glen Helen Nature Preserve and Clifton Gorge Nature Preserve. It’s just a few miles away from another famous mill, Clifton Mill.

Grinnell Mill is located at 3536 Bryan Park Road, Yellow Springs. For information and reservations, go to Grinnell Mill B&B.
