The Coney Island Diner is Mansfield’s oldest operating restaurant, opening in 1919 and moving to its current location in downtown Mansfield in 1936.
A blend of warm, unique atmosphere, friendly staff and great food have made the Coney Island Diner a longtime lunch favorite for people who work in Mansfield, as well as visitors to the area. The restaurant’s walls are decorated with historical memorabilia.
The diner is known for its famous coney island hotdogs — hence the name. A basic coney is a hotdog topped with mustard, onion and their special recipe meat sauce. It’s also known for its pea salad, which consists of lettuce, peas, Swiss cheese, bacon bits and onion mixed in the restaurant’s special dressing. There’s also lots of other sandwiches and entrees as well as ice cream specialties on the lunch menu.
“Breakfast and Gossip” is also served with a smile. “Come in and eat or we’ll both starve!” exclaims the menu. Everything from corned beef hash and cheese omelets to pancakes and waffles is on the breakfast menu.
Coney Island Diner is located at 98 N. Main St., Mansfield. Connect on Facebook.
