Baltic Mill began milling flour in the mid-1800s and at one time was Ohio’s largest flour mill, producing Little Daisy Flour. The mill was built around 1850 and once housed a steam-powered gristmill.

The mill was leveled by fire in 1908, but was rebuilt and ran again until it ceased operations as a mill in 1964. From 2004 to 2012, it was a bulk food store and gift shop.

In 2014 the building was renovated and Baltic Mill Winery opened to the public, offering a variety of fine hand-crafted wines.

The new owners stripped the building of the added shelves and walls, exposing the features of the original flour mill. Chutes and machinery have been preserved in the winery’s tasting room.

Mill machinery has been preserved on the mill’s second and third floors.

The mill machinery remains the focal point of the second and third floors. The flour mill’s steam engine still rests in the cellar where it was once used to power the milling process all those years ago.

Baltic Mill Winery is located at 111 E. Main St., Baltic (330) 365-0524.
